Job Placement Terms & Conditions

Chicago Chapter of Law Libraries (CALL) Job Posting Terms & Conditions

Specifications

Any employer hiring legal information professionals and paraprofessionals, regardless of CALL membership, may post an available position with CALL at no cost. CALL, however, will only post openings from the tri-state areas: Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. All other openings should be directed to AALL the local chapter affiliated with where the position resides. A listing of local chapters can be found at the AALL website.

To have a job opening posted to the CALL Job Posting website, use the webform located on this website.

The posting will go up on the CALL website, be distributed on the CALL list serv, and, if you wish, be distributed to job boards for nearby library and information science schools.

Positions will be listed on CALL Job Posting website for eight weeks from the date of initial job posting.

It is the responsibility of the employer to email the committee to remove any posting prior to their eight-week expiration date.

The employer must also email the Placement and Recruitment Committee co-chairs for an extension on the length of time that the job will be posted on the website.

CALL Non-Discrimination Policy Adopted from the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) and the Special Libraries Association (SLA)

CALL will post positions from institutions that have adopted or pursue policies not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or sexual orientation in the employment of librarians and staff. Following these listings will be a separate category for law schools having a religious affiliation or purpose that wish to exercise their rights under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution to apply employment policies related to that affiliation or purpose. These provide a preference for persons adhering to the religious affiliation or purpose of the law school, but shall not be applied to preclude applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or sexual orientation. Any law school so exercising its Constitutional right shall make available to the CALL Placement Committee and to interested applicants information explaining the religious beliefs, values, and practices of the institution so that informed decisions about whether to apply are possible.

The employer shall be responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness and removal of any employment requirements that are placed on the CALL website.

CALL assumes no responsibility or liability for any personnel selected by the employer and the employer represents that any selection, retention or hire of any individual or entity is based solely on the Employer’s investigation, verification and determination that such hire is suitable for the Employer’s purposes.

The Employer also agrees to hold harmless CALL from any claims, damages or losses incurred by the Employer or any other party as a result of use of the Chicago Association of Law Libraries job posting services.

CALL reserves the right to remove the job posting(s) at any time if deemed necessary.

CALL reserves the right to edit all employment job advertisements, but will review any such edited advertisements with the Employer prior to publication.

The Employer shall take sole responsibility to assure that the content of its advertising is true and accurate and conforms to all applicable laws, standards and regulations and the Employer represents and warrants to CALL that it has all necessary authorization for the placement of the entire content of its advertising within the site.
