Community Service Collection to Benefit Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day, the CALL Community Service Committee will be taking collections at the November business meeting to benefit two excellent local groups providing services to veterans.  A Safe Haven helps veterans transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency with pride and purpose.  The organization provides a range of housing services from transitional housing to permanent affordable homes, as well as additional services such as employment counseling to help each individual overcome the root causes of homelessness.   Support A Safe Haven by donating the following items:

  • new twin bedding sets (preferably white)
  • new pillows and pillowcases
  • new towels and washcloths
  • toiletries (including shampoo, toothpaste, etc.)

For infection and pest control reasons, all donations of fabric items must be new.

The committee will also be collection cash donations at the meeting to support Honor Flight Chicago, an organization whose mission is to honor our World War II veterans by arranging for them to visit the WWII memorial in Washington D.C.  Please contact Jamie Sommer at jsommer@jmls.edu for further information.
