The Litigation Services Coordinator will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Litigation Services Coordinator at Latham, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating one or more major functions of the Managing Attorney’s Office and for providing support for all other functions as needed. You will assist with the calendaring and monitoring of active cases, court services and court filings, legal research and analysis; and litigation records, and bar and court admissions while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

 

 

Providing a wide array of general litigation support functions for L&W attorneys, staff, and clients, including but not limited to:

assisting in active litigation case management, with tasks, including but not limited to, docketing of all contested matters utilizing a database such as MA3000 or CompuLaw, culminating in the weekly publication of a firm-wide litigation department calendar, monitoring case status through manual and electronic means and insuring the timely retrieval of decisions and orders in all L&W matters;

coordinating court admissions for the office, communicating with attorneys and secretaries regarding data collection and verification process and coordinating workflow for addressing incoming and departing attorney admissions;

drafting basic legal documents, including but not limited to, Notices of Appearance, Pro Hac Vice Motions and Affidavits of Service

Handling all administrative responsibilities and duties relating to calendaring

Coordinating and assisting with general litigation services, which may include some or all of the following:

retrieving and filing of court documents in paper and electronic form using firmwide and court docket databases;

obtaining exemplars and templates of documents filed in court in response to attorney/staff requests for precedent

performing basic research utilizing online databases and legal search engines

Electronically filing a wide range of court papers and staying current in the nuances of electronic filing rules to ensure successful submissions; coordinating with court personnel and process servers as needed

Responsible for knowledge of e-filing protocols in all courts relevant for the office’s litigation practice and for maintenance of electronic court filing (ECF) passwords

Assisting with special projects on various issues as needed, with a primary focus on streamlining processes by effectively collaborating with other departments and offices

Promoting effective work practices and working as a team member in support of all Latham & Watkins employees

Completing various projects as needed

 

As a Litigation Services Coordinator, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Litigation Services Coordinator must have strong leadership, organizational, communication and time management skills needed to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm. An ideal candidate will exhibit an advanced ability to perceive and analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them, while displaying the confidence and discipline to work independently and provide concise and specific recommendations to attorneys, supervisors and staff. Knowledge and proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office and other programs such as calendaring, e-filing and CompuLaw necessary to complete thorough analyses and reports is desired.

 

A Bachelor’s degree is required, as well as three (3) years of relevant law firm, court or related experience. One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a law firm Docket Department is desired. A J.D. or other relevant educational background may be considered in lieu of the above. Extensive time using a computer including use of a PC keyboard and mouse or similar data input devices is required of this position, as well as lifting heavy boxes or files to the mail room or facility.
