Michael Best – Research Specialist

Position Description
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Research Specialist in our Milwaukee or Chicago office. The Research Specialist will assist the department with legal and non-legal research and reference services for attorneys, clients, and staff.

Responsibilities & Duties:
-Process materials and invoices, and manage cataloging for a centralized library
-Manage distribution of materials to firm professionals
-Maintain department intranet content for practice groups
-Create and maintain current awareness alerts and communications
-Produce Reference and Training Guides
-Fulfill requests for court documents, case law and articles
-Conduct legal and non-legal research
-Distill research results into clear and concise reports of findings
-Use question and answer skills to conduct effective reference interviews
-Execute day-to-day projects as assigned

Job Requirements:
-1+ years library research experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
-Master’s Degree in Library Science
-Will consider current MLIS student candidates, or someone with equivalent combination of education and experience
-Detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and project management skills
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
-Knowledge of print and electronic resources and databases commonly used in large law firms
-Prioritization and time management skills
-Professional client service manner, responsiveness, flexibility, and adaptability
-Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of the firm
-Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
