Topic
The speaker for the May meeting is Jason Kunesh, CEO of Public Good Software, a for-purpose startup serving the public good through technology in Chicago. Mr. Kunesh will be speaking about how startups and technology are breaking ground in social entrepreneurship. He will speak about working on the Obama for America presidential campaign, his work with Public Good, and the program that led them to incubate Public Good in the Harold Washington Public Library. That program was a first of its kind in the nation.
About the Speaker
Mr. Kunesh was Director of User Experience at Obama for America, a founder of Fuzzy Math, on the founding team of ThePoint (which grew up to be Groupon), an early designer at Orbitz, an adjunct faculty member at DePaul University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a bouncer at the Green Mill.

Community Service Project
We are collecting new children’s books the SitStayRead program for children ages 6 to 10, 1st to 4th grades.For more than a decade, SitStayRead has been making a difference in the lives of some of the lowest-income students living in Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods. In 13 years, the program has grown from a pilot in one city library to an established curriculum in 16 schools and five community centers. SitStayRead accomplishes its mission of improving literacy skills and fostering a love of learning in at-risk children using patient, gentle dogs as part of the educational team. The dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and breeds infuse a sense of fun into the learning process while providing a non-judgmental ear to students who may not be comfortable reading aloud to their peers.
