Stephen Rushin will present on police misconduct/police reform.

About the Speaker

Stephen Rushin is an Assistant Professor of Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Professor Rushin specializes in criminal law, criminal procedure, police accountability, and empirical legal studies. He holds both a J.D. and Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley. Professor Rushin has had several articles published on the subject of police reform, and in his book Federal Intervention in American Police Departments, which was published by Cambridge University Press earlier this year, he makes the argument that Congress should expand and improve federal oversight of policing. A number of national media outlets have featured Professor Rushin’s research, and he has appeared on national television and radio programs to discuss his areas of expertise. Community Service Project In September we will be donating to Chicago Volunteer Legal Services by participating in the organization’s annual Race Judicata.  CVLS provides pro bono legal aid to the Chicago area’s poor and working poor.  For $25.00 you can participate in the race with team CALL (please contact Julie Swanson ( by September 7th for registration information).  OR, please consider making a pledge on behalf of CALL:  at the Race Judicata 2017 ( website, click “Register Online” then select “View Teams.” Search for Chicago Association of Law Libraries.  You will then see a red “Pledge” button.
