Community Service Project
CALL’s May charity is Liberation Library, a local Chicago group of volunteers dedicated to providing youths in Illinois prison books, in order to promote literacy, self-determination and connection to the outside world. Books are selected by the youths themselves and obtained through donations of money or the books themselves. Liberation Library can only accept donations of books that are listed on their wish list on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/5FZH90UF6QNT/) but time and monetary donations are always welcome. Donate money through their donation webpage (https://www.crowdrise.com/donate/project/liberationlibrary/liberationlibrarylib/0) or in person at the May CALL meeting where the donations from the table boxes will be sent to Liberation Library. There are also in-person volunteer options listed on their webpage to pack books or send cards to youth in prisons.
