Position Description:

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a Research & Intelligence Operations Manager to join our Research & Intelligence team.

The Research & Intelligence Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Research & Intelligence team with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.

  • They oversee vendor relationships including evaluations, subscription negotiations and renewals, contract review and approval, and invoicing.
  • They manage the firm’s online and print collections, ensuring resources are current, accessible and utilized.
  • The Manager supervises the operations team responsible for the maintenance of the print and digital collections, credential management, engagement communications, budgeting and cost management.
  • They establish operational procedures that reflect library management best practices and lead initiatives to improve efficiency, cost management and service delivery.
  • Working closely with department leadership, they analyze utilization data to identify trends and recommend strategies for increasing engagement and/or replacing or retiring resources.
  • This role requires extensive knowledge of library operations best practices and related solutions.
  • The R&I Operations Manager demonstrates a commitment to excellent service and quality and promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • They model a culture of knowledge sharing and creative problem solving and work to increase engagement with the firm’s research and intelligence resources.
