Position Title: Research Analyst

Position Description: 

Kennedys is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Research Analyst to join our growing Information Services team, utilizing a variety of databases to provide legal and business reference services across the Firm’s United States offices. In addition to providing research support in a fast-paced environment, the Research Analyst will also provide competitive intelligence information in support of business development efforts and aid in the management of research sources through product evaluation and collection development. This position reports to the Information and Research Manager.

The annualized salary range for this role is $88,500-$127,500. However, this is contingent upon level of experience, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Key responsibilities 

  • Work with Business Development team to provide competitive intelligence reports and analysis in a concise and digestible manner
  • Utilize a variety of legal and business resources to provide both ready reference and complex research services to support client matters in a cost and time effective manner
  • Proactively and independently responsible for balancing workload by monitoring incoming requests, assessing time constraints and estimating research time needed
  • Promote the growth of Information Services via evaluation of new and existing electronic research resources, and recommendation for expansion of services
  • Participate in library updating, maintenance, accounting and collection development
  • Contribute to the development and management of Information Services intranet pages and current awareness alerts
  • Assists with the training of attorneys and staff on the effective use of legal and business research resources, including new joiner orientations
  • Keep up with new developments, technologies, innovations, and products in the fields of legal and business research

Required experience

  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited library school (or equivalent)
  • 5+  years’ experience in a law library, relevant experience in another professional services or corporate library will be considered
  • Knowledge of legal and business resources such as Westlaw, Lexis, VitalLaw, and Capital IQ.
  • Ability to work independently and meet competing time-sensitive deadlines across varying US locations
  • Proven ability to synthesize information into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Established organizational skills with a proactive attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and support a customer service philosophy
  • Superior attention to detail
