Position Title: Adjunct Law Librarian
Position Description:
The Kresge Law Library at the Notre Dame Law School invites applications for an adjunct faculty position to teach legal research in Legal Writing & Research I, a required in-person, first-year course, during the Fall 2025 semester. This three-credit course is taught collaboratively: the adjunct faculty member will teach the one-credit legal research component in close coordination with the full-time legal writing professor responsible for the remaining two credits. The adjunct will lead one section of approximately 45 students, which meets once per week, and will follow a set syllabus.
The course focuses on core legal research competencies. The successful candidate will be responsible for introducing students to foundational skills, including the use of secondary sources, case law research, statutory and regulatory research, and AI literacy as it relates to legal information and practice.
We welcome applications from those who would add to the diversity of our faculty. Notre Dame Law School is an eminent law school at the heart of a great Catholic university. As part of a Catholic university, Notre Dame Law School aims to educate lawyers and sustain a community of scholars who understand law as a vocation — a way to serve God and humanity. Our Catholic mission also moves us to be open and welcoming to people of all viewpoints and religious traditions. We are engaged in an integrated mission that combines teaching, research, and service.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold both a J.D. and an M.L.I.S. (or an equivalent degree) and must have experience teaching legal research to first-year law students.
Application Instructions
