Job Description Summary:

Faegre Drinker has an opportunity for a Manager of Research Services to work in our Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Florham Park, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Wilmington or downtown Indianapolis office. In this role, you will plan, oversee, manage, and supervise the Research teams in all U.S. offices. This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients.

Job Description:

What you would do:

  • Manage the Research staff, including the selection, training and evaluation
  • Oversees incoming research requests and works to large projects and work distribution among Research Services team members
  • Provides administrative oversight, including supervision, coaching and supporting the Research team
  • Provide quarterly metrics on research time to the Senior Director of Research & Information Services
  • Provides expert level research service by performing in-depth legal and non-legal research using sources both within and outside the firm
  • Lead the development of research and reference services and product offerings, including on-demand, legal, non-legal and business research
  • Assist with the evaluation of research resources, development of recommendations for purchase, and exploration and implementation of new systems and services.
  • Assess and monitor user satisfaction and take appropriate actions by proposing, planning, and implementing policies, processes and methods for improving services
  • Assists the Senior Director of Research & Information Services in the development of the department’s strategic plans and yearly objectives and goals
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

The anticipated initial annual salary range for someone who is hired into this position is $120,000.00 – $136,900.00.

Actual initial salary may be above or below the above-identified range and will be based on the relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors, including the location where the position is filled, in all cases consistent with applicable law.  This is an exempt role and the initial salary range listed above is just one component of Faegre Drinker’s total compensation and benefits package for professional staff, which includes, but is not limited to: a discretionary bonus; life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.

What is required:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science
  • 6 years of professional experience in a legal, business, or technical library required
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of information sources both legal and non-legal and ability to evaluate their appropriateness or usefulness for the firm
  • Experience in the use of electronic databases and in providing training on these systems for end users
  • Three years of supervisory experience preferred
