CALL Community Service Collection

At the February 27 meeting, the CALL Community Service Committee will be collecting food and monetary donations to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Food Depository assists 678,000 adults and children in Cook County every year through a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.

 

Please bring to the business meeting any nonperishable canned and packaged foods (no glass) that have yet to expire.

CGFDSome of the most-needed items are: beans, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal, chili, jelly, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, rice, shelf-stable milk, soup, stew, and tuna.

For every $1 donated, the Food Depository can provide three meals.

For every 4 pounds of food donated, the Food Depository can provide three meals.

Register for the CALL Business Meeting – Thursday, February 27, 2014

The Community Service Committee will be collecting food and monetary donations to benefit the The Greater Chicago Food Depository.

The Food Depository distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to 678,000 adults and children in Cook County every year. Please bring any nonperishable canned and packaged foods (no glass) that have yet to expire to the business meeting. Some of the most-needed items are: beans, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal, chili, jelly, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, rice, shelf-stable milk, soup, stew, tuna.

Alison Siegler, University of Chicago Law School Clinical Professor and Director for the Federal Criminal Justice Clinic, will speak on the Clinic’s experience with authoring an amicus brief in the Supreme Court case of Alleyne v. United States, decided June 17, 2013.

When is it OK to cite to an electronic version of a statute?  How and when do we apply the new citation rules for Illinois?  What is ALWD, and how does it differ from the Bluebook?  If you have ever found yourself asking questions like these, you are not alone.  Legal citation can be a frustrating and daunting task for even the most seasoned law librarian.  Our next CALL Continuing Education event is intended to clear up some of the most common mistakes and misconceptions about legal citation.    Hope to see you there!
