Position Title: KM Product Analyst

Position Description:

The Knowledge Management (“KM”) Product Analyst will work with the KM Product Manager, the KM Department, IT and other departments in the day-to-day administrative, operational and procedural aspects of evaluating technology based solutions that support and accelerate the practice and business of law at Sidley. This role contributes to the conception and evaluation of potential new technology based solutions, as well as the execution of the configuration, implementation and on-going administration of existing or adopted technologies (collectively, their “assigned portfolio technologies”).

The KM Product Analyst will maintain the product evaluation documentation, enhance the process, and contribute to market intelligence initiatives as related to legal technology trends and innovation. With regard to the assigned portfolio technologies, this role will interact regularly with other firm departments including the firm lawyers, IT, the Library, Procurement, and Learning & Development, as well as external resources including vendors and consultants.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the KM Product Manager, complete periodic industry research to uncover potential competitors of the assigned portfolio technologies
  • Document technical specifications, the desired user experience and acceptance criteria for features and functionality, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and KM priorities
  • Facilitate active and passive feedback loops to assess the efficacy and adoption of the assigned portfolio technologies and collaborate with the KM Product Manager to incorporate that feedback into the development of strategic business goals and product roadmaps
  • Develop working knowledge of the content, configuration and capabilities of the assigned portfolio technologies
  • Develop working knowledge with regard to the scope and nature of internal and external data and technologies that could be leveraged to enhance the assigned portfolio technologies
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable data privacy regulations and policies
  • Support the development of relationships with vendors and outside service providers related to the assigned portfolio technologies to ensure a consistent, high-level of service and performance
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in legal technology and emerging products

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with technology based solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines and priorities under minimal direct supervision
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact diplomatically with all levels of firm personnel
  • Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to define solutions to support and improve those processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams

Preferred:

  • Experience working with legal technology in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with law firm structure and business practices, as well as practice-specific terminology
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint for use in analyzing and presenting information
  • Familiarity with major technology solutions commonly used by large law firms such as Litera, LexisNexis, and Thomson Reuters
  • Experience managing projects from inception through planning, execution and completion
