School supplies drive for Sept. 20 CALL Business Meeting

At our first CALL meeting of the year on September 20th, the CALL Community Service Committee will once again be collecting school supplies for the Chicago Public Schools’ Students in Temporary Living Situations program, so be sure to get out there now and take advantage of those back-to-school sales! Suggested items that are always welcome include:

Backpacks
Toiletries
Feminine hygiene products
Pencils
Pocket folders
Notebooks
Crayons
Washable markers
Pencil top erasers
Supply boxes
Glue sticks
Scissors
Rulers
Watercolors
Sketch pads
Colored pencils
Spiral notebooks
Wide rule notebook paper
Dictionaries
Calculators
Assignment notebooks
Kleenex
Paper towels

If you prefer to donate online, Chicago Public Schools has partnered with Kits for Kidz to solicit online donations of school supply packs. Although separate from the CALL supplies drive, you might want to check out that effort.

In addition, we’ll be donating the cash from the canisters on the tables to the American Cancer Society in the name of the Wenger family and in support of our colleague Jean Wenger, who recently lost her brother to cancer, two days after the loss of her mother.

If you have any questions, please contact the Community Service Committee co-chairs, Robert Martin and Kevin McClure. And thanks, as always, for your generosity!
